[ProAudio] Question for Rich Breen re Aluminum discs

I have about a 100 of these from 1936 and 1937. All were professionally made in the USA by recording studios. Some are airchecks, some are on-site concert recordings.

UK sold a recording device that attached to the speaker output of your home
radio to allow you record programs on an embossed disc quite early on.  Is
this possibly it?  Not something I see in the US, but the British origin would
make good sense that this is what they'd be talking about.
