[ProAudio] Microphones in constant use

I was taught years ago that microphones are sacred. The vast majority of
recording studios that I have worked in, have a Mic policy. The one
universal thing about all of the policies was that Mics are to be put
away when you are finished. Some studios had Mic closets, some had Mic
cabinets or lockers. My personal collection remains locked in a trunk &
is visited, at least, once or twice a year. The Mics that I have left
out were calibration mics (Sorry David, not a Josephson) & those mics
were unplugged & covered. I think Bob Katz's suggestion is a good one.
That said, I would go the extra step & unplug it when not in use.
Besides, unplugging & replugging exercises the connector which operates
at Mic level.
