Many things ought to be addressed by the equipment designer which aren't.
The good news is that these days generic but well-engineered power supply
inlet modules are available which the equipment designer can just drop into
place.

The bad news is that counterfeit power supply inlet modules which actually
contain no filtering of any sort (sometimes some cement for weight though)
are also available.
