I got 59 hits for "espenschied" -- Lloyd Espenschied went to the
same church I did when I was growing up. I met him a couple of
times, but I was very young and not knowledgeable and he was very
old and kind, but the gap was too big for me to benefit (with
20/20 hindsight).

My image is from the Alcatel Lucent site and all the off-site
links now end up at Nokia! At least the tables of contents work
within the site.

AT&T Bell Labs might have been the premier engineering
entity on the planet for most of the 20th century. Their
periodical, Bell System Technical Journal, documented many
(most?) of the major electrical engineering inventions and
research during the first half of that century, especially
in audio and communications. RCA also had a serious
engineering department. David is one of two people I know
who own large collections of the BSTJ.
