Dear Jim:

I have some spare 80 minute Plextors with my logo imprinted, if
you want a half dozen, just write, no charge. I don't anticipate
ever running out of my stock of blank CDRs at the rate they are
being used.

I'll let you know. It's very nice musically, and interesting from
an engineering perspective. EU recording engineers had relatively
little experience with big bands in concert halls, and it shows.
There are four recordings of the 1956 tour online in streaming
format, including this one from Berlin. I haven't listened to all
of them, but this one suffers from poor balance of the sections in
the ensemble (very weak saxes, less weak bones, some instruments
that you don't hear at all), boomy sound on the bass instrument,
too much room. These four recordings are, however, a major
improvement from the 1953 tour, when every recording is a train
wreck of overloaded mics and tape.

I have FLACs made from an LP that is described as being from a
broadcast. All I plan to do is cool off that bass a bit.
