That's what he's doing, he's adjusting for maximum high frequency response,
it's just that he's looking at something a dozen octaves above the audio
band so the actual precision is much higher.  It is in fact higher than it
would ever need to be for audio applications.... it is an artifact of his
attempting to recover the bias signal, but if you need to do that anyway you
get extremely good azimuth for audio as a free bonus.
